Sketch: In Flight

Image
My second practice sketch, finished up today. This was my first attempt at shading and I enjoyed seeing the difference it can make. Ah, so much to learn.

Sketchbook: Slack Wyrm fan art

Image
Dragons tend to get a bit fussy when it comes to the manner in which they are portrayed in artwork! So you best mind you do not try their patience and do your very best work.

Had a bit of fun with this fan art sketch inspired by the online comic Slack Wyrm.

Sketchbook: "We've been waiting"

Image
When you crack open the door the slightest little bit and discover an entire world waiting for you. A practice piece from the sketchbook done at the end of the workday Friday.

Sketch: dragon bust

Image
May 29th. Picked up a pencil and began drawing again for the first time since high school. It's just a practice piece but it's the most substantial drawing I have ever done.

edit: Sunday, June 16th. Calling it finished. Silvertone. The dragon.

CG: "Come, bend the knee"

Milestones

Image
After years of putting it off, I recently opened my sketchbook and started daily practicing. Scribbles, really. But I'm trying to get used to handling pencils and get comfortable with the idea of creating stuff, the thought of which normally causes me to panic and stop before I start. So... at work this afternoon I decided to take a moment to do a quick doodle and sketch out an idea I had for my next CG project. Keeping in mind that I haven't drawn anything at all for over forty years, I ended up creating my first "dragon" looking creature. Poor thing. I do promise to do better tho.

I wanna rock your gypsy soul
Just like way back in the days of old
Then together we will float
Into the mystic
